EPCOS – Capacitors

EPCOS develops, manufactures and markets electronic components, modules and systems, focusing on fast-growing leading-edge technology markets, which include information and communications technology, automotive electronics, industrial electronics and consumer electronics. In SAW components, ceramic components, capacitors and inductors alike, EPCOS consistently stands for superlative electronic performance. Approximately 23,600 employees at over 20 design and production locations and a tightly meshed sales network give us a genuine global footprint. More than half of our sales professionals are engineers and technical experts. In fiscal 2012 EPCOS posted sales of about EUR 1.8 billion.

Broad product portfolio for a wide range of applications

Electronic components are found in nearly all electrical and electronic devices. A single car can contain as many as 10,000 such components. In mobile phones and lighting ballasts, notebooks and electric locomotives, electronic components are instrumental in processing electrical signals, protecting electronic circuits and ensuring a regular, reliable power supply.

Capacitors are used throughout electrical engineering and electronics. They store electric charges and filter or regulate current and voltage in electronic circuitry. Our product portfolio includes aluminum electrolytic capacitors, film capacitors and power capacitors, and solutions for power factor correction.

Inductors fulfill two basic electrical functions at the same time: they filter current and store electromagnetic energy. Among other things, inductors are used in switch-mode power supplies for applications in information and communications technology, automotive, industrial and consumer electronics. Our portfolio also includes ferrites, which are the heart of inductors and concentrate electromagnetic fields to transmit electrical signals and power. Moreover, EPCOS also manufactures components that ensure electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) for the interference free operation of electrical equipment and devices of all kind.
